Heat bed temp not working. How to reconnect wire?
New to 3D printing. I just assembled the i3 mk2 kit and finally got it calibrated and working last week.
I did my first long print yesterday and left it going overnight. All looked good before I went to bed. I woke up this morning and the model was all over the place and broken. Basically it probably became dislodged from the bed mid-print.
Today, I went to reprint it and during the preheat I noticed the heat bed temperature wasn't reading. It would stay down at between 23-25 degrees even though I could tell it was much hotter. After inspecting the machine, I could see that the heatbed cable became dislodged from the gold foil tape underneath the heatbed(I think someone else referred to this cable as a thermistor in another post).
So my question is....can I reconnect this cable? Can I just unpeel that gold tape and reconnect it by taping it back up underneath? I haven't removed the tape yet to see what is underneath it, so I'm not sure if there is more I need to do to fix. Maybe soldering?
Is there something more specific I need to do to fix it? Do I need to replace the foil tape with a specific tape that I can get in stores? Any step by step info would be greatly appreciated.
Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening again?
There is very little information about this online it seems about this subject.
Is this a good question?
